My research interests are concerned with the initial interaction of myeloid immune cells with bacterial pathogens and the development of inflammation. Specifically, my interests include the biology of novel IL-1 cytokines and the therapeutic potential of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) in humans and also in porcine and murine models. I also have research interests in the development of innate cells vaccines for control of bacterial disease
The role of VIP as a TLR inhibitor
Survival of opportunistic pathogens following VIP administration
I would welcome enquiries from colleagues regarding any field in which I currently have interests.
