MELANIN BLEACH

SECTIONS
4µm paraffin wax sections


SOLUTIONS
a) 0.5% acidified potassium permanganate
b) 1% oxalic acid


METHOD

  1. Take sections to water
  2. Treat sections with 0.5% acidified potassium permanganate for 30 minutes
  3. Wash in water
  4. Treat sections with 1% oxalic acid for 5-10 minutes
  5. Wash, examine and re-bleach if necessary
  6. When bleached, counterstain as desired eg H&E
  7. Dehydrate, clear and mount in DPX
