Expertise Summary

I specialise in the study ancient glass, with a particular interest in the Roman and Islamic period. My doctoral thesis I am currently working on is the study of the chemical compositions of Islamic glass in the 9th - 12th centuries, with a focus on Syria (al-Raqqa), Georgia, Turkey and China. It looks at how the trading network of Islamic glass across the East Mediterranean and the Silk Road was in this period. Also the chemical compositions of Islamic glass in the Eastern Mediterranean and its relation to glass vessel forms.
