Cath Rees awarded Cream Award for innovation

Description
Cath Rees and colleagues from PBD Biotech Ltd were awarded the Cream Award for their new tuberculosis (TB) diagnostic test at Dairy Tech, a dairy industry trade event, on 5th Feb. The Cream Awards promote best practice and recognise the brightest and best businesses and people across the dairy industry.

New research has found preparing land for palm oil plantations and the growth of young plants causes significantly more damage to the environment, emitting double the amount of greenhouse gases than mature plantations.

New research shows sustainability can be a selling point for new ingredients

Researchers from the School of Biosciences have carried out the first UK consumer study on the use of Bambara Groundnut as an ingredient in products. The research has shown that sharing information on sustainable features increased consumers' positive emotional connection to food.

Dr Mary Phillip-Jones, Associate Professor in the National Centre for Macromolecular Hydrodynamics, based in Biosciences, has led research which made a discovery that will pave the way for the development of more effective antibiotic treatments to fight superbugs.

Globalise your degree course

Description
Students can diversify their degree course by choosing a language module for credits. We offer 10 credit modules in Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Spanish. The levels range from Stage 1 (complete beginners) to Stage 6 (near native speaker competence). It is possible to improve existing skills or start a new language.
