Has held a number of management positions, including Head of the School of Biosciences, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Nottingham and the inaugural CEO and Principal at SRUC.
A scientist specializing in animal reproduction, with a focus on large animal and human reproduction. As well as working at the University of Nottingham was a Ford Foundation Fellow at the University of Michigan and held research positions at the Univerisity of Oxford and the BBSRC, Roslin Institute, Edinburgh. Carried out research in Australia and France. Supervised over 25 PhD students and postdoctoral fellows and has authored over 200 scientific publications.
