Current Research

Research and innovation related to micronutrients in food systems, with further interests in rural drinking water chemical quality. The lead of the international Micronutrient Action Policy Support project, 'MAPS' https://micronutrient.support/. This project, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is using co-design principles to build a web-tool to model and visualise population micronutrient supplies, and future scenarios for the local food system. The MAPS tool is geographically focussed in African nations south of the Sahara, with 'deep dive' case studies in Ethiopia and Malawi, with case studies from other nations under development. This innovation is underpinned by novel research, links to which can be found on the website. Wider research is aligned to this portfolio, and seeks to improve access to models and data relevant to micronutrients and support capacity strengthening of our partners, and career progression of our team.
