Knowledge exchange and Executive Education with industry partners

Nottingham University Business School was approached by Zhejiang Communication Investment Company (CICO) for an extensive visit in September 2023.

CICO operates as a provincial-level transportation state-owned enterprise, undertaking responsibilities for investment, financing, construction, operation, and management across diverse transportation sectors, including highways, railways, inter-regional rail transportation, and integrated transportation hubs. Moreover, CICO actively participates in integrated transportation infrastructure projects globally.

A delegation, consisting of six senior executives from CICO, visited Nottingham with the goal of establishing collaborative projects in talent development, graduate recruitment, research, consultancy, and commercial initiatives between CICO and the university.

During this visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the University of Nottingham's Professor Robert Mokaya, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement, to address CICO's specific interests in senior management, innovation, and entrepreneurship programmes offered by Nottingham University Business School across its three campuses.

As a tangible outcome of this collaboration, a bespoke Executive Education programme on the topic of ‘International Horizon Development’ was established between Nottingham University Business School China and CICO. This programme, tailored for 20 senior members of CICO and delivered in December 2023 in Ningbo, China, marks the beginning of a meaningful partnership in knowledge exchange and business engagement between the two organisations through Executive Education business networks.

In addition to the Executive Education programme, discussions regarding the design of CICO's internal staff training curriculum and innovation management consultancy remain in progress, further solidifying the collaborative efforts between the two organisations.
