QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) have today released their 2018 ranking of the world’s top Executive MBA courses.

This is the second year that QS has compiled a ranking for Executive MBA  (EMBA) programmes and the first year that Nottingham University Business School has been included.

Salary increase and promotion

This year, QS evaluated 150 business schools in 30 countries and 119 global EMBA programmes are included in the final ranking. Nottingham earned a rank of 89 globally and 39 in Europe, scoring highly for the measure of Career Outcomes.

The Career Outcomes score aims to measure average salary increase and promotion rate after graduation. Nottingham's EMBA showed an average salary increase of 60%, which is greater than the global mean of 45%.

Gender and cultural diversity

The ranking also measures the number of women Executive MBA students enrolled on a course, as well as the number of distinct nationalities. 60% of Nottingham's Executive MBA students are women - considerably higher than the global average of 29.9%.

Key questions Executive MBAs ask

The QS EMBA Rankings 2018 are compiled using five metric groups, each designed to provide quantitative data regarding key questions aspiring EMBA candidates seek answers to.

The groups are:

  1. Employer Reputation (30%): do employers regard graduates from this prospective program highly?
  2. Thought Leadership (25%): does this school have the capacity to innovate, and to encourage innovation?
  3. Executive Profile (15%): the quality of my EMBA peers matters to me – how experienced is the class and how much c-suite representation is in the programme?
  4. Career Outcomes (20%): is this programme likely to support my career in terms of salary increase and promotions after graduation?
  5. Diversity (10%): am I likely to be exposed to a wide range of perspectives? Does this programme offer high levels of gender and international diversity?
