Ali is a Ph.D student in the Department of Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry at Nottingham University. He received a B.Sc. in Chemistry in 2002 and an M.Sc. in Biochemistry in 2006 from the University of Baghdad, Iraq. He began his Ph.D. in Biomolecular Science under the supervision of Prof. Neil R. Thomas in 2013. From 2007 to 2013 he worked as a lecturer at the Department of Chemistry at Baghdad University.
His research interests center on the role of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) in the cell viability and cell cycle. In M.Sc period he studied the effect of superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme levels in patients with brain cancer. Recently, he has focused on the designing of proteins to generate photodynamic therapy and imaging agent in nano-scale and applying them on breast cancer.
