Description

Including a summit day on Branded Content – 21st October

We are pleased to announce the programme of the annual Nottingham International Microfilm festival which takes place at venues throughout Nottingham on 20-22 October 2016.

As part of this year’s festival, we will be holding a summit day on branded content at Lakeside Arts Centre, University of Nottingham. Bringing together leading industry practitioners in the field of branded content, specialist video agencies, and international perspectives on branded content from Europe and China, the summit will explore the role of microfilms - film, video and digital shorts - in a media environment where boundaries between ‘promotion’ and ‘content’ have become increasingly blurred. The event will be of interest to film and video practitioners, businesses seeking to explore content marketing strategies, and students and academics seeking perspectives on key developments in the contemporary media and promotional environment.

Programme

11-12. The Changing Landscape of Media and Marketing - Welcome by Prof. Paul Grainge and keynote by Justin Kirby, digital strategist and curator of ‘Best of Branded Content Marketing’

12-1 - Developments in UK Online Shorts – Industry panel and Q&A with video agencies Skeleton, Fat Free Media, Be Inspired Films, facilitated by Dr Catherine Johnson

Networking Lunch

14.00-15.30 - Surviving This Space: International Microfilm Business Models -  media experts from Germany and China will present on the international landscape of branded entertainment and creative online shorts, with a particular focus on Europe and Asia.

19.00-22.00 - Cannes Lions Film Festival Screening – Branded Content Winners 2016 (Showcase Cinema, Nottingham) - Screenings of the 2016 Cannes Lions Festival winners for 2016, followed by a Q&A led by Dr Julian Stringer with Cannes Lions representatives discussing their festival of creativity and the development of the Branded Content category. The screening will also feature the Grand Prix winner – a VR film which the audience will be able to view using Google cardboards.
