In Collaboration with the Nottingham Lakeside Arts, the Institute for Screen Industry Research (ISIR) presents a Chinese New Year Special Event: a panel discussion on documentary filmmaking in China. 

Panel Discussion: Documentary Filmmaking in China

Time: 3-5 pm, Thursday 25 January

Place: Lecture theatre, Lakeside Arts 

Speakers:

  • Dr Hongwei Bao, Institute for Screen Industry Research, the University of Nottingham
  • Dr Leora Hadas, Institute for Screen Industry Research, the University of Nottingham
  • Dr Xiaopei He, filmmaker and research associate in the School of Global Studies at the University of Sussex
  • Dr Sabrina Yu, Senior lecturer in Chinese and Film Studies, Newcastle University 

In this panel discussion, film scholars and filmmakers will discuss the status quo of documentary filmmaking in China, as well as the opportunities and challenges that young filmmakers face in transnational screen industries.
