Description

Professor Richard Wrigley from the Department of History of Art will lead this talk; describing Nottingham's pivotal role in the development of British museums and public art. Nottingham saw the creation of the first regional public art gallery at the end of the 19th century. This talk will answer questions such as; what did this gallery look like, who was it for, and how did its collection come together?

The event is free but numbers are limited; please book your place. The talk is part of the "Nottingham – Creative City" strand in the Being Human festival 2015. See the full list of events here.
