A group of University staff and students are holding two fundraising events for the Dream Big Ghana Foundation (DBGF) – an NGO working in rural Ghanaian communities to help improve sanitation, public health, education and youth sports development.

The first event to take place will be a benefit fundraiser in Nottingham city centre on Friday 23 June. Named the ‘Roots Reggae party’, this event will feature DJs and music playing at the Spanky Van Dyke’s venue (17 Goldsmith St, Nottingham NG1 5JT) from 9pm-2am.

Tickets are available for £5.00 in advance via this link, or can be purchased for £6.00 on the door. All staff and students are welcome.

As well as inviting attendees to the event, the organisers have also put out a call for additional volunteers to help run the event. If you’d like to get involved, please contact Dr Linda East.

The second fundraising event will involve a number of individuals taking part in a sponsored 5K run at the Nottingham Forest Rec Parkrun, on Saturday 18 November.

This event will be held to coincide with UN World Toilet Day – and the money raised will be used to build a compost toilet in one of the villages in Ghana where the charity operates.

If you’d like to sign up to the team, please contact Dr Linda East. If you’d like to support the team through donation, please visit http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/RRR2017.
