Accessing digital teaching

Monday, 15 March 2021
Elements of your teaching will be delivered online. This article contains details of what you need to do to prepare for online teaching and the support that is available to you.

Your school or department will have already been in touch with more detail about the impact digital teaching will have upon your course. If you have any questions relating specifically to your course, you should contact your school or department directly.

When you arrive on campus, please bring your laptop or tablet device with you, if you have one, and connect to 'eduroam' WiFi. Once you have activated your IT account, you can download Microsoft Office for free on up to five devices. You may require additional specialist software for your course – more information on how to access this from any device or location can be found on our software webpages. Information on the minimum device specification advised is available on our IT support webpages.

If you don’t have your own device, you can use our computer room facilities. However, access will be limited initially in order to comply with social distancing regulations. In addition, our laptop loan facility offers access to short-term laptop loans with a standard 30-day service; longer loan periods are available.

Please note that if you are required to isolate, you will not be able to access computer rooms or computers in the libraries, but are expected to continue engaging with your studies via your personal or loaned devices, where you are able to do so.
