Black History Month 2019

The University of Nottingham Students' Union BME Network will be organising a series of free events throughout Black History Month 2019 (BHM 2019).

Every Wednesday of BHM, the SU will be hosting their core panel events, with a focus on exploring topics directly related to the black community. However, everyone is welcome, no matter your background or whether you're staff or student.

The first event will be 'Black Faces in High Places - A Navigation Of Race and Gender in Workplaces and Academic Institutions'. It will take place from 4pm-6pm on Wednesday 2 October in Room A03, Teaching & Learning Building, University Park. 

Special guest speakers include:

  • Dr Tony Sewell CBE - CEO Generating Genius (Keynote)
  • Yemi Gbajobi - CEO LSE SU
  • Kemi Okoye - Research and Development Programme Global Lead at SIEMENS
  • Rianna Walcott - Professional Jazz Singer, PhD Candidate researching Black Identity Formation in Digital spaces and Co-Founder Project Myopia
