Helping to transform your programme of study

Thursday, 27 October 2022
The university is inviting students to help redesign programmes of study to improve learning and the overall experience for future cohorts.

The Curriculum Transformation Programme (CTP) launched in September 2022 and is a university-wide initiative. It brings together insights from current students, alumni, employers, and the labour market – along with academic and student input – to redesign undergraduate and postgraduate taught degree programmes across the institution.

This academic year, students and staff from over 50 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the following faculties, schools and departments will participate in redesign projects:

  • School of Physics
  • School of Life Sciences
  • Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering
  • School of Sociology and Social Policy
  • School of Education
  • Nottingham University Business School
  • Faculty of Arts

Other schools and departments will follow in future years.

The CTP has been introduced to improve student learning and experience, re-evaluate assessment load, ensure that all assessment tasks align with programme learning outcomes, and ensure we are continuously improving our offering to reflect changes in the world. It's therefore vital that we work collaboratively with you to co-create these programmes of study.

How you can get involved

The CTP design process will include paid internship opportunities for students on the programmes being redesigned, allowing you to directly shape your curriculum as student co-creators. Successful applicants will be trained to identify desirable and up-to-date graduate attributes to inform the design of learning activities and assessments.

Student co-creators will collaborate with the CTP team and the academic staff teaching on that programme to identify the most relevant learning outcomes and a vision for the curriculum.

Students in the School of Pharmacy and School of Mathematical Sciences have already been involved in redesigning their programmes. Watch the video to hear about the experiences of the student co-creators from the School of Mathematical Sciences.

What next?

If you are a student on one of the degree programmes being redesigned, you will be contacted directly with more information about the internship and how to apply.
