Postgraduate Wellbeing Week

Monday 31 January - Friday 4 February is postgraduate wellbeing week.

 

The Students' Union's Postgraduate Wellbeing Week will run from Monday 31 January to Friday 4 February. Postgraduate taught students and researchers are invited to a range of events with a focus on improving mental, social and physical wellbeing.

Monday 31 January

Introduction to Support & Wellbeing and other services
12-12.45pm, online
Join the session

Come along to find out more about the Support and Wellbeing team as well as other services that are available to you as a UoN postgraduate student!

Wellbeing Cafe
6-8pm, Portland Coffee co.

Grab a coffee and chill, a great opportunity for you to meet other postgraduates and have a chat.

Tuesday 1 February

'Mind Matters' webinar
11am - 12pm, online webinar
Book your place 

This PGR only session will cover commonly experienced themes such isolation, loss of motivation and imposter syndrome and will look at ways to develop a good work-life balance with a focus on wellbeing and self-care.

Art Therapy with the ArtSoc
5.30-7.30pm, C14 Monica Partridge Building

Watercolour and chill! Gentle art therapy to de-stress and a chance to wind down at the end of the day.

Wednesday 2 February

Wellbeing walk
1.30-2.45pm, Meet outside Cripps Health Centre

A weekly group walk to help improve mental, social and physical wellbeing.

Canine compassion
4-5pm, The Studio in Portland Building

This event is run by POOCHES (Pets Offering Ongoing Care Help & Extra Support) as a chance to de-stress by playing and relaxing with Ruby, Bertie and Chewie!

Thursday 3 February

'Adapt Together' taster session
11am- 12pm, Online
Join the session

A space where researchers can come together to talk about challenges they are facing with their work, share advice and offer support to one another.

Wellbeing drop-in for PGRs
1-3pm, C Floor, The Barn, Sutton Bonington

Come along to this informal drop-in and meet PG Research Welfare and EDI Officers from the Researcher Academy Alice Haslam and Sandra Rose.

Pizza, ice cream and film night
6-7.30pm, Studio Live in Portland Building

This event does what it says on the tin! Come along and enjoy free pizza, ice cream and a film on us. What more could you want on a Thursday evening?

Friday 4 February

Men's Mental Health Comedy Night with Dave Chawner
6-7pm, Studio Live in Portland Building

Dave uses comedy to talk about mental health to engage hard to reach groups. 40% of men say they won't talk about their mental health (Priory Group Survey, 2018). Stand-up gives unique methods of talking about taboo subjects in a down-to-earth manner.
