Potential changes to timetables – daylight savings

Wednesday, 21 October 2020
Clocks in the UK turn back one hour on Sunday 25 October, meaning a possible change to teaching timetables and online events for those studying remotely overseas.

Daylight Saving Time will end at 2am on Sunday 25 October 2020, when the clocks will be turned back by one hour to 1am.

If you’re based in the UK, you will likely not need to do anything – most UK devices will automatically update to show the correct time. If you do not have a UK device, you may need to change the time manually.

If you are studying remotely and are based in a country that does not observe Daylight Saving Time, this may mean that the time of your online study sessions – or any other contact hours, appointments or online events - changes. For example, if you had a lecture at 3pm in your local time, from Sunday 25 October onwards, it will take place an hour earlier, at 2pm in your local time.

This will stay in effect until 1am Sunday 28 March 2021 when the clocks will go forward.
