Inspire students to achieve their potential

The Widening Participation Team works to raise aspirations and attainment towards higher education. There are many ways that you can get involved in our programmes, from supporting on-campus visits to working with individual children.

Below are all of the opportunities currently provided by the team, have a look at the profiles and find the right one for you. 

Volunteering opportunities

IntoUniversity Mentoring

 

 

  • One hour a fortnight
  • Mentor a young person one-to-one
  • Primary or secondary aged children
  • Work in the third sector

Mature Student Mentoring 

 

 

  • Mentor a new mature undergraduate student
  • Develop interpersonal skills and enhance your CV
  • Open to second and third year mature students

Learning Leaders

 

 

  • One hour per week for up to six weeks
  • Lead sessions in primary schools
  • Training on campus
  • Travel time up to one hour for school visits

Summer School Ambassadors

 
  • Work on a two-week residential programme in July
  • Support 16-17 year olds
  • Lead activities and gain new skills
  • Be part of our ambassador team and have fun

Students in Classrooms: Achievement Coaches

 
  • 10 week placements
  • Placements in local secondary schools
  • Leading 1:1 or small group sessions
  • Partnership with Nottingham Trent University
