Student engagement event

On 30 October 2017, alumni attended a student engagement event to meet and talk to students from the following programmes.

• MA Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
• MA Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages
• MA Teaching English for Academic Purposes

The event was attended by 37 students, with eight alumni representing the three programmes. The alumni told their stories about their teaching context, career path, classroom episodes and continuing professional development. 

Attendees were also shown a web-based resource which has been created for alumni as part of the Teaching Transformation project created by Dr Martha Jones, Ann Smith, Dr Xin Gao.

Stephanie Hambling, Alumni Relations Officer, also attended and talked about volunteering opportunities for alumni after graduation.  

The event was a great success and plans are to hold another event next year.
