Dr Lauran Doak has published a research report exploring the difficulties of implementing mainstream-centric policies in special school environments, the workarounds that Headteachers are forced to devise, the extra workload incurred and the emotional consequences of feeling peripheral to government thinking. The report also discusses Headteacher recommendations for making policy more inclusive of diverse settings within the English education system.
