Biography

Emma has worked in education and therapeutic settings for over 20 years. Emma has offered Person-Centred Experiential therapy and education since qualification in 2007. Emma trained at the University of Nottingham's School of Education where she was awarded the Teresa Duffy prize. A significant amount of Emma's clinical experience is offering counselling to young people aged 14-25 in Educational settings. Emma currently has a private practice working mainly with adults and also offers Clinical Supervision to other counsellors. Having taught on Humanistic Counselling courses from Introductory, to Masters level, Emma currently teaches on the MA PCECP course and delivers the Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression course, which is part of the NHS's Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme. In her role as Assistant Professor of Counselling Emma has contributed to the promotion and development of the Person-Centred Experiential approach as an evolution of Carl Rogers' original Person-Centred approach. As a member of the School of Education's Counselling Cluster Emma contributes to the Centre for Research in Human Flourishing. Emma's approach to working with others in public, private, therapeutic or educational contexts is grounded in the Person-Centred Experiential approach, governed by an ethic of mutuality.
