Biography

Richard holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and is a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

At Nottingham, Richard tutors on the MA in Person-Centred Experiential Counselling and Psychotherapy. He also delivers the Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD) course, providing a recognised qualification for counsellors working in the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme within the NHS.

Richard has experience as an Associate Tutor at the Norwich Centre where he facilitated on the BACP-accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling.

Together with co-authors, Richard has presented research into individualised counselling outcome measures and the PCEP scale at recent BACP Research Conferences.

In his private counselling practice he has a particular interest in relationship issues, working with individuals and couples. He also has counselling experience in the voluntary sector and within a student counselling service. Before becoming a counsellor, Richard gained a PhD from the University of Warwick in 2006 and has worked in scientific research and teaching environments for over 15 years.
