Our PGCEi course is a blended, distance learning course. It is compulsory to attend this element under the University's Regulations Governing Attendance and Engagement.

Online study

  • Supported distance learning (using Moodle, plus email, video conferencing etc, as appropriate)
  • Completion of formative tasks and summative assignments

Fees

There is a fixed fee of £4,567.

The tuition fee includes registration, tuition, initial assessment, graduation etc. There are no additional fees payable to the University for resources. Fees can be paid in four equal instalments as follows:

  • First instalment - 1 April 2023
  • Second instalment - 1 June 2023
  • Third instalment - 1 August 2023
  • Fourth instalment - 1 October 2023

Payment is made directly to the university. You will not be asked to pay your first instalment until after the start date of your course, and it can often take up to three weeks for your first invoice to be generated.

Personal statement

During the application process you will be asked to provide a personal statement. This should be about your previous experience, what you hope to gain from the course, and plans for your future career.

You should include details about your teaching and learning experiences. You should explain what you have learned from those experiences, and how you think the PGCEi will be able to help you develop as a teacher in future.

If you have done other work in which you have trained people, or worked in a teacher-style role or as an educator, please include details of these too. You should aim to write approximately 500-700 words.

Please note: Each individual venue requires a minimum number of participants to run and we reserve the right to cancel this cohort if we do not meet the required number.

Email communication

After we receive your application, all communication sent from the University of Nottingham will be electronic. Please ensure your email filters are set to allow these to come through to your inbox as we will send important links to all your pre-course information. If you do not receive emails from us, they are likely to be in your junk folder.

Pre-course website

Once you have been given an offer for the PGCEi course, you will receive an email guiding you on how to accept your offer and meet any outstanding conditions. All the information you need is available on a pre-course website, including a 'next steps' guide and the link to access this will be included in the email. It is important you read through the general pre-course information and the cohort-specific information to prepare for the start of your course.
