Recent Publications

Current Research

Ian is interested in the development and application of computational models to provide an improved understanding of the fundamental processes that cause real world environmental engineering problems, and which may assist in the design of sustainable solutions to these problems. The focus of some of his current and recent research studies is the modeling of the emission, dispersion and mitigation of fugitive dust from surface minerals extraction and processing operations. Ian also has research interests in the development of computational fluid dynamic models to characterize the environmental fluid flow phenomena exhibited by shallow water lakes and volcanic eruptions.

Ian is currently Head of the Fluids and Particles Research Group within the Process and Environmental Research Division of the Faculty of Engineering.

Future Research

I welcome enquiries from potential PhD candidates from Home, EU and international countries who are interested in the following research areas: The development and application of computational models to improve the understanding of multi-phase chemical and environmental process engineering problems including: modeling of the emission, dispersion and mitigation of fugitive dust; surface minerals extraction; environmental fluid flow phenomena.
