This afternoon event is for students in the School of English Studies and is an opportunity to ask the experts about work experience and careers in law and teaching. The School will be holding a second careers event on Friday, 10 February 2012 for students who are interested in other careers (for example: arts, PR, journalism, business, management etc.)
Please do come along when you can; for the whole event, or just to the sections that interest you the most. You can drop in at any time and don't need to book a place.
1.00 pm: Getting Work Experience
Julie Callaghan from the Careers and Employability Service will provide guidance and answer your questions.
2.00 pm: A Career in Law and Law Conversion Courses
Pete Kay from Careers and Employability will provide essential info if you are considering a career in law.
2:30 pm: ‘The PGCE Course’
A talk on course structure, when and how to apply. Susan Jones from the School of Education, The University of Nottingham
3:15 pm. : ‘My career as a Lawyer’.
Alfie Liu, a recent graduate from the School of English Studies, will chat about his training and work to date as a lawyer.
4:15 pm: ‘My career as a Teacher’.
Jonathan Cleaver, a graduate from the School of English Studies and a teacher at Friesland School in Nottingham will talk about his career and answer your questions.
