Volunteer Teaching Opportunity - Upendo Junior School, Kenya and Wadsworth Fields Primary School, Nottingham

Two students from the School of English Studies, Caroline Adams and Fiona Stockdale, will have the opportunity to gain teaching experience at a UK primary school and then travel to their partner school in Kenya on a trip funded by alumni support to the University.

The trip to Kenya will take place in June-July 2010 following a teaching placement with Mrs Sally Bates and her team at Wadsworth Fields Primary School at Nottingham.

Background
Dr Masibo Lumala completed his PhD in the School of English Studies in 2007 and returned to Kenya where he set up a junior school in his home to help orphaned children. In 2009 Masibo received an Alumni Laureate Award from the University to recognise his work and partnership with Wadsworth Fields Primary School, whose teaching staff visited Kenya in 2009. The two schools have embarked on a joint project to share information about their primary school curriculum.
