Bidding for funding

Members of the Research Councils UK (RCUK) have all signed a statement (Statement of Expectations on Societal and Economic Impact) indicating that anyone in receipt of funding is expected to 'take responsibility for the curation, management and exploitation of data for future use'.

Consequently, as part of the bidding process funders may require you to develop a Data Management Plan to indicate how you will adhere to such requirements and submit this alongside you bid application.

These requirements will vary however from funder to funder and therefore it is advisable to check with your funder, exactly what they expect from you. Generally they will want you to indicate how you will manage, publish, share , and deposit or preserve your data.

How do I bid for funding?

  • School Managers, The Graduate School and Research Support Staff can offer information on how to bid for funding, including supplying documentation that provides guidance for submitting bids and templates for submission of bids. Please contact your local support staff in the first instance.

What about a 'Pathways to Impact' statement? How do I prepare one of these?

  • The University also offers detailed guidance on how to prepare a 'Pathways to Impact' statement, with examples on the Research Support website.
