Regulations

The University of Nottingham’s 2012/13 fee regulations defines:

  • the category of fees
  • what the fees cover
  • how fees should be paid
  • what happens if fees are not paid
  • other fees, such as re-examination fees and administrative charges

Regulations for fees and other sums due to the University

Students studying for equivalent or lower qualifications (ELQ)

For some students the University does not receive any Government funding.  This applies to students on certain courses who are studying for a qualification:

  • equivalent to one they already possess, or
  • lower than one they already possess

In most cases, if this applies to you, the University will charge you a supplement to the fee listed in these tables ─ the Exceptional Fees table gives details of the amount of the supplement.

If you are unsure of whether you will need to pay the higher rate of fee, please contact the Admissions Office.

International and postgraduate research students

The ELQ policy does not apply to postgraduate research students or to international students.

Exemptions from ELQ

There are instances when students do not have to pay the ELQ supplement. This is the case when:

  • the course is exempt from the ELQ policy
  • the University has decided not to charge the supplement for a course
  • a student is in receipt of the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA)

Full-time undergraduate students

The University’s decision on whether a student or course is exempt from the ELQ supplement may not always the same as the decision taken by the Student Loan Company.
