East Midlands Universities Combined Military Education Committee

Terms of Reference

• To encourage and promote an interest in defence studies within the member universities (De Montfort, Derby, Leicester, Lincoln, Loughborough, Nottingham and Nottingham Trent)
• To advise the member universities on matters of military education
• To support the East Midlands Universities OTC and Air Squadron
• To make recommendations or advise upon senior honorary posts and Commanding Officers in accordance with arrangements determined by the service units
• To advise on a student's service within the EMUOTC and EMUAS and ensure that it is not to the detriment of his/her academic welfare
• To ensure member universities understand the value to students of service in the OTC or UAS, whether or not they are planning a service career, eg. the training in leadership and the management skills they receive
• To make reports, via the appropriate university committees, to the member universities
