A set of self-directed online modules for new supervisors, and those who have more experience. It has interactive content such as videos, quizzes, and a personal portfolio. Available to staff at all of our international campuses.

Contemporary issues in supervision

Interactive and dynamic workshop with individual activities, group discussions and taught inputs. 

  • Explore your own expectations of research supervision.
  • Contrast your expectations with those of other supervisors, PGR students and the national and institutional regulatory frameworks.
  • Discuss and identify the characteristics of an effective supervisors over the early, mid and closing stages of a research degree.
  • Explore how the University’s regulations & Quality Manual support these stagesReflect on your own preferred supervisory management style.

Research Supervisor Seminars

Aimed at all University staff involved in research, this seminar series aims to inform on a wide range of supervision topics. It is delivered by colleagues from around the University, external speakers and Graduate School staff.

Bespoke in-School sessions

The Graduate School can work with you to design a session that meets your local needs. Normally delivered in a workshop-style to 12 or more attendees. Please contact the Head of Researcher Development, Parmjit Dhugga to discuss your school needs.
