Andrew McNaughton, Director of Construction, Tidal Lagoon Power Plc, will deliver the talk ‘Entrepreneurs in Infrastructure – the architects of economic transformation’. Part of the Chancellor’s Lecture Series.

Since the industrial revolution, the visionary determination of entrepreneurs to create innovative infrastructure solutions has driven economic development. A civil engineer and business leader with over 30 years’ experience in infrastructure, join Andrew as he discusses the power of investment in creating transformational change.

About the speaker

Andrew McNaughton, BEng MSc FICE FREng, is a Civil Engineer with 30 years of professional experience across a broad spectrum within the infrastructure industry.

Andrew is Director of Engineering and Construction for Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay Plc. He has responsibility for delivering this major infrastructure asset into operational service.

Previously, Andrew worked in various parts of the Balfour Beatty Group. His most recent post being Chief Executive Officer of Balfour Beatty Plc, leading the global activities of the £11 billion revenue infrastructure Group. Prior to this, his roles have included business leadership and Operational/Project delivery roles around the world including major infrastructure projects such as the UK’s first high speed rail line now known as HS1.

Before joining Balfour Beatty, Andrew spent 12 years with the Kier Group.

Andrew is a FICE (Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers) and was named Civil Engineering Manager of the year in 2002. He is a Freeman of the City of London, a Liveryman in the Worshipful Company of Engineers and holds a Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineers. In January 2014 he was appointed as a UK Business Ambassador, by the UK Government, to promote British infrastructure capabilities globally and encourage inward investment into UK infrastructure.
