Join us for the Holden Botany Lecture given by Dr Sandra Knapp, Natural History Museum.
Speaker biography
Dr Knapp is the world expert in the taxonomy of the nightshade family, Solanaceae, and has spent much time in the field in Central and South America collecting plants. She started at the Natural History Museum in 1992 and manages the international project Flora Mesoamericana - an inventory of the approximately 18,000 species of plants of southern Mexico and the isthmus of Central America.
She has extensive experience with media broadcasts including: BBC Radio 4 – Natural Histories- The Big Story (23/12/2015-25/12/2015), Natural History Heroes, The Life Scientific: Discussion of Sandy Knapp's scientific career with Jim Al-Khalili, and was part of the panel for The Infinite Monkey Cage, Should we Pander to Pandas? - Comedy programme with Brian Cox and Robin Ince.
