Building on our successful first event this second event will continue to examine what we mean by a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).

It will provide examples of SoTL developments across the university, will pose challenging and critical questions about the meaning of SoTL, and will build on the themes identified from the first event in bringing together groups of people to collaborate on similar areas of interest.

09:00 – 09:15 Coffee and arrival.
09:15 – 09:30 Introduction and aims for the day. Dr Andrew Townsend, School of Education.
09:30 – 10:15 key note 1: Promoting Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Prof Joanne Lymn, Head of School of Health Sciences
10:15 – 10:30 Break.
10:30 – 11:45 Themed discussion groups to address interests around the following areas:
    - Transitions and the student journey
    - Students as researchers and critical scholars
    - Using technologies for learning
    - Modes and models of assessment and feedback
    - Conducting, learning from and publishing educational inquiry
11:45 – 12:15 Discussions of developing themes.
12:15 – 13:00 Key note 2: What do we mean by Scholarship of Teaching and Learning? Prof Charles Crook, School of Education.
13:00 – 13:15 Close and next steps.
13:15 – 14:00 Lunch and Networking.
