Following the publication of the NHS pay circular, the 2019 pay uplift for clinical academic staff has been agreed, these are the same as those awarded to comparable NHS staff. Salaries for medical and dental consultants have been increased by 2.5% and salaries for doctors in training have been increased by 2%.
National CEAs, local CEAs under the pre-2018 scheme, discretionary points and distinction awards remain unchanged. There are no non-consolidated awards in this pay round and previous non-consolidated payments no longer apply. Local CEAs granted between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2021 have had their unit value increased by 2.5%.
These salary arrangements for Clinical Academic staff will apply from 1 April 2019, payment and back pay (from 1 April 2019) will be made in October salaries.
