Private Telephone Calls

  1. The University telephone system is provided for the use of staff in connection with the performance of their contractual duties, and must be limited to that purpose.
  2. Necessary and brief private telephone calls are permitted from office telephones within the following guidelines:

    a) It is accepted that a member of staff occasionally may need to make appropriate personal arrangements by using the telephone in order to carry out their work, e.g. telephone home to say they will be later than expected. Use of the University telephone system in such cases is permitted.

The University reserves the right to withdraw the facility to make private calls from any individual who does not comply with paragraph 2 above, and warn that further occurrences of making private phone calls could result in disciplinary action.
