Pay Award 2016 - Update

 

Further to HR Update 16/025 – Pay Award 2016, I am writing to confirm that we will be now also be implementing the pay award for UNISON represented staff groups (Operations & Facilities (O&F) Job Family, Levels 1 to 3 of the Administrative, Professional & Managerial (APM) Job Family and Childcare Services).  The pay increase will take effect in November 2016, with backdated pay to 1 August 2016.

As advised previously, UNISON members have voted to reject the 2016 pay offer and we will be meeting with UNISON to discuss this with them further in due course.  However, recognising that UNISON represent some of our lower paid staff groups, we believe it is important for those staff members to receive the benefit of the pay award as soon as possible.  The decision has therefore been taken to apply the pay award whilst discussions with UNISON continue.

Pay Award - An increase of 1.1% will apply with effect from 1 August 2016 for points 8 and above on the 57-point scale for Levels 1 to 6, and all points on the Level 7 scale.  The enhancements to points 1 to 7 of the 57-point scale are as follows:

† In addition to the 2.7% consolidated increase at point 3, a non-consolidated top-up payment of 1.4% will be made on base hours for staff at this spinal point only.  As points 1 and 2 are not currently used by the University, this takes the University’s minimum hourly rate to £8.25 per hour.
