Student Talk: what happens at the Human Rights Council

Today, Jessica Allen, University of Nottingham Undergraduate in Law with French, talked to her fellow students about her attendance at the 27th Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva with the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) Delegation.

Jessica gave a short presentation outlining her role as the UK Representative for ELSA. She also outlined her experiences of witnessing first-hand UN human rights decision and policy making from Universal Periodic Review sessions to consultations held prior to the adoption of new UN Resolutions.

Since returning to Nottingham to continue her studies,she has written a blog post outlining the main human rights issues following the adoption of Resolution A/HRC/27/L.7 on the Safety of Journalists by the UN Human Rights Council and an article on her experiences as a delegate alongside both national delegates and representatives of renowned NGOs.
