Localizing fundamental rights in the European Union - Article published in the Journal of Human Rights Practice

A new article 'Localizing fundamental rights in the European Union:  what is the role of local and regional authorities and how to strengthen it?' has been published in the Journal of Human Rights Practice.

The article is based on research carried out for the EU Committee of the Regions and is a spin-off collaboration of FRAME researchers in various partner institutions.  For HRLC, former research assistant Amy Weatherburn contributed to the project and co-authored the article.

The article explores the importance of localising fundamental rights with the purpose of strengthening their effective protection.  The focus is on local and regional authorities and the role they can play in implementing fundamental rights in the EU.
