Prof. Nolan elected Vice-President of European Committee of Social Rights

On 28 January HRLC Co-director Professor Aoife Nolan was elected Vice-President of the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR). Prof. Nolan joined the committee in 2016 for a six-year term. The ECSR is the leading economic and social rights monitoring body in Europe. Its work is focused on the implementation of States Parties’ obligations in terms of the European Social Charter. The ECSR comprises 15 independent, impartial members which are elected by the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers. The Committee reviews state reports and exercises a quasi-judicial role with regard to complaints brought in terms of the Additional Protocol on Collective Complaints.
