'Engaging with the UN Human Rights Mechanisms' Training

May 2023 saw a series of three trainings on 'Engaging with the UN Human Rights Mechanisms' organised by the Human Rights Law Centre with the Human Rights Implementation Centre at the University of Bristol, Doughty Street International and Doughty Street Chambers Children’s Rights Group.

This course was led by HRLC Co-Directors Professor Aoife Nolan and Professor Sangeeta Shah, together with Professor Rachel Murray at the University of Bristol. The very well-attended online course provided participants, drawn from legal practice and civil society both in the UK and internationally, with practical information about engaging with the UN human rights mechanisms. Expert input was also provided by DSC Jamie Burton KC and Caoilfhionn Gallagher KC, as well as by Professor Sandra Liebenberg (University of Stellenbosch/former member of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights), Phil Lynch (International Services for Human Rights), Leilani Farha (The Shift / former UN Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing), Helen Flynn (Just Fair), Professor Michael Addo (University of Notre Dame/former members of the United Nations Working Group on Business and Human Rights), and Professor Jon Yorke (Birmingham City University).
