Dr Natalie Hodgson writes for The Conversation: Rwanda Deportation Plan Faces More Delays - How Did We Get Here?

Dr Natalie Hodgson, Assistant Professor in Law and Head of the HRLC's Forced Migration Unit, has recently published an article with The Conversation which highlights the challenges facing the UK government's plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda, announced in April 2022 as part of a migration and economic development partnership between the two countries.

In her article, Dr Hodgson explores the legal challenges and resulting court rulings blocking the plan, the pending Bill declaring Rwanda a safe country to send asylum seekers to which has passed repeatedly between the House of Lords and House of Commons with amendments, and the logistical, capacity and cost constraints involved.
