China's Image Building along One Belt, One Road

Dr Xiaoling Zhang reports on her IAPS-funded exploratory trip to the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) seeking research collaboration with colleagues in the School of International Studies and the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies for 'China's Image Building along One Belt, One Road (OBOR)'.

---

Thanks to the support by IAPS, I was able to make the trip to UNNC at the end of December 2016, after my visit to SISU (Shanghai International Studies University) in Shanghai.

One of the main aims of the trip was to develop research collaboration opportunities with colleagues at UNNC. I conducted meetings with several colleagues, which proved to be constructive.

While finishing my work on a joint project funded by AHRC titled 'Building Images: exploring 21st century Sino-African dynamics through cultural exchange and translation', I am starting to consider an application on OBOR. It will take some time to identify the most suitable funder, and develop it but I am hoping it will be inter-disciplinary collaboration involving colleagues from other campuses.
