Welcome from the Head of School

I am delighted to welcome you to our School of Law at the University of Nottingham.

As a recognised centre of teaching and research excellence, the school is home to some of the world’s foremost legal scholars. We have a long tradition of welcoming students and staff from across the globe and we look forward to welcoming you!

Consistently ranked among the leading law schools within the UK, we value research excellence. Our staff are encouraged to develop their research focus and take pride in providing leading contributions to legal research across a broad range of areas from public procurement and commercial law through to international criminal justice.

Additionally, as part of one of the UK’s leading universities with links to global institutions, the third sector, and being connected to the global research community, our scholars also conduct inter-disciplinary research with brilliant contemporaries from across the world.

The strong research background informs the school’s innovative and outstanding teaching, which attracts a diverse community of motivated and  engaged students. Our staff are internationally renowned in their fields and their commitment to creating a friendly, nurturing, creative and modern learning environment is widely recognised.

Plaudits include the Lord Dearing Awards and Students' Union Staff Oscars and the school holds an Athena SWAN Bronze Award.

Alongside academic life, the school has a vibrant and active social life. Award-winning student-run societies provide personal and academic opportunities as well as making a positive contribution to the community. Being located within the 300 acres of University Park Campus means that the school sits among extensive greenery on one of the largest and most attractive campuses in the country. University Park is also the focal point for student and staff social and sporting activities, as well as being located just two miles from Nottingham city centre.

As we move into new and exciting phases for teaching and research within the school, we look forward to welcoming tomorrow's academics and practitioners into our community, and continuing to drive the future of legal scholarship.
