Peter Cartwright, Professor of Consumer Protection Law, was invited by the European Parliament to speak as part of an expert panel at its event: "Product safety rules: keeping us safe or more red tape?" in London on 21 April.
Peter spoke on the draft European Regulations on Consumer Product Safety and Market Surveillance, legislation that will potentially make significant changes to product safety law across Europe.
The other speakers were Christel Schaldemose, the Danish MEP responsible for steering the legislation through the Parliament; Rod Freeman, Partner at Hogan Lovells; Martyn Allen, of Electrical Safety First; and Lynn Faulds Wood, BBC Presenter and Chair of the UK Government’s Review of Product Recall. The event was chaired by Martine Croxall, the BBC News presenter.
