River, Drainage and Water records

Unicorn Hotel flooded, December 1965

The University of Nottingham holds the records relating to the historic activities of the Trent River Authority and its predecessors in the Trent basin.

The records include material from the Hatfield Chase Corporation, the Brigg Court of Lincolnshire Commissioners of Sewers and the Trent Navigation Company. Most of the material pre-dates the establishment of the Severn Trent Water Authority in 1974, which took over the Trent River Authority's functions.

The University also holds the records of the Nottingham Corporation Waterworks and the Stoke Bardolph Sewage works and Bulcote Model Farm, which were also taken over by the Severn Trent Water Authority in 1974.
