Biography

I registered as a pharmacist in 2005 having graduated with my MPharm from Aston University, Birmingham. Following my graduation in 2004, I undertook my preregistration year at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. After registration, I stayed at Leicester working as a Medicines Information Pharmacist at the Trent Medicines Information centre. In late 2006, I left Leicester and returned to Birmingham to undertake my residency at the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust. During the two and a half years, I was there, I also successfully completed my clinical diploma with Keele University. It was during this time, that I developed an interest in education and training. In 2009, I took up my current post of Senior Clinical Pharmacist/Teacher Practitioner, which is a joint post between the University of Nottingham and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. As part of this role, I currently work two and a half days at the University, teaching on the clinical aspects of the course whilst the remaining days of the week are spent at the hospital currently working as an clinical pharmacist on the busy medical admissions wards and within the Education & Training Team. Within the hospital I also act as a tutor to both a preregistration student and a diploma student. In 2010, I was appointed as Clinical Placements Coordinator at the School of Pharmacy in order to develop our hospital placements programme for the future. During 2013, I have been involved with the integrated 5 year MPharm degree offered by the Nottingham School of Pharmacy.

I also work for NHS Direct as a Pharmacist Advisor, where I deal with enquiries from the public relating to medications.

During my time as a student, I was part of the British Pharmaceutical Students; Association (BPSA) and undertook the role of Secretary General for two years and President for a following year (www.bpsa.co.uk). Following this, I took on the role of Secretary for the Birmingham & District Branch of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) (no longer in existence). Since moving to Nottingham, I have been part of the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Local Practice Forum
