Stam is the head of the Computational Neuroimaging Group at the University of Nottingham. He has a computer and biomedical engineering background and works at the interface of neuroimaging physics, neuroscience and computer science. He develops methodology for exploring brain organisation using Magnetic Resonance Imaging, specifically computational approaches for mapping brain connectivity and brain tissue microstructure.
