I am a computer scientist and my research interests concern the evaluation of both human and machine performance in medical imaging applications. This currently encompasses the areas of breast cancer screening, prostate and lung cancer imaging, as well as digital pathology and surgery. In these domains I am developing next-generation advanced assessment and training systems to improve health professionals’ performance using a variety of human and machine techniques. I have been involved nationally in examining the quality of breast screening readers’ performance for many years and have now expanded this research to develop software and Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems that contribute to the quality assurance, control and continuous quality improvements in medical imaging.
