Current Research

I am currently using linked CPRD and HES data to study the epidemiology of venous thromboembolism following general surgical procedures and the epidemiology of complicated diverticular disease. I am also supervising an NIHR Doctoral Fellowship awarded to Miss Elizabeth Elsey using ISCP data from UK surgical training to define evidence based standards.

Past Research

I completed my PhD on symptom aetiology in diverticular disease and the epidemiology of perforated diverticular disease. Since completion of my PhD my post doctoral work has focused on the epidemiology of complicated diverticular disease, venous thromboembolism following surgery, appendicitis and inflammatory bowel disease.

Future Research

I plan to use routinely collected health care data to study the epidemiology of various surgical conditions.
